The final total is now in, and staff, patients, visitors and Members of Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) have once again raised a fantastic sum towards improving cancer care as part of the recent World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Wards and departments across the Trust held their own coffee morning in a unique “Coffee Morning on Tour” event in September which saw areas hold individual events raising a grand total of £6,295.

The Macmillan Unit also hosted charity stalls and a raffle, with prizes donated by local companies. The first prize of a high definition television, provided by Thompsons Solicitors in Stoke for the sixth year running, was won by Oscar from Alsager, whose ticket was bought for him by his Grandparents Dave and Ann Buxton, both of whom are active fundraisers for Macmillan.

Speaking about the event, Julie Pieczarka, Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Manager, said: “The Coffee Morning on Tour worked brilliantly for us. It allowed us to spend more time with patients in the Unit and encouraged every ward or department to join in. There was a real buzz around the Trust with everyone enjoying the challenge to raise as much as possible.

“Thank you to everybody who helped us by baking, buying cakes or donating their time. Thanks also to all the local companies who kindly donated prizes for our raffle.”
