Hospital Thanks Community for Donations

CAU Christmas 2014 - Mecca Bingo
Staff from Mecca Bingo donate gifts to the Child and Adolescent Unit

The Child and Adolescent Unit at Leighton Hospital would like to say a huge thank you to the local community for the generous donations received during the festive period.

Babies and young patients who are spending Christmas in hospital will be given a gift to brighten up their stay. Toys and games have been donated by local companies and organisations including:

  • Crystal Legal Services, who formed a Charity Committee to raise funds via monthly donations and fundraising events such as ‘Dress Down Fridays’
  • Busch GVT, who nominated the Child and Adolescent Unit as their Charity of Year
  • Mecca Bingo’s customers at the Crewe branch made their Christmas Present Campaign a great success
  • Sandbach Market Traders and their customers who gave generously to donate gifts to the Unit
  • County Insurance, donations were kindly given by the Crewe-based company
  • Minshull's Nursery, who donated a Christmas Tree to plant in one of the Ward’s garden.

Laura Riddle, Charity Manager, said: “On behalf of our patients, their families and our staff, I’d like to thank everybody who has helped to make these donations possible – whether they are customers, employees or owners.

“The Unit will make sure every child receives a present on Christmas morning and any left will be used through the year for patients with birthdays or special occasions, or for general play.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout 2014 with donations and gifts, however big or small – your kindness really makes a difference.”
